FURNACE REPAIR and REPLACEMENT

Controlling your home's temperature affects your comfort, your mood, and your overall happiness. We want your home to be a place of relaxation and security. Comfort starts with your HVAC system.

Cold South Dakota winters are the worst time for your furnace to stop working properly. In addition to regular maintenance to help your furnace function optimally our certified technicians can also repair any brand of furnace.

AND if you're ready to upgrade to a more efficient unit, we provide free estimates to replace your current system. We can also let you know if you qualify for any rebates. At J&R Mechanical, we trust the Coleman brand of furnaces to keep your family warm all winter long.

Here are some questions to consider if you're thinking of repairing or replacing your unit:

Age: A well-maintained furnace can last up to 20 years. While repairing a newer system is a good idea, the closer you are to the end of your furnace's life cycle the more likely that a new, energy-efficient model could lose your heating bills

Repair Cost: A common gauge is that repairs costing less than 50% of the cost of a new furnace may be a worthwhile investment. However, even inexpensive repairs add up so consider the frequency of your repairs as well.

Energy Bill: Certain factors such as insufficient insulation, less energy-efficient materials and an older heating unit can result in a perfect winter storm on your heating bill. If this is the case, look at some of the rebates available and calculate whether replacing your furnace makes financial and environmental sense.

Regardless of the age or condition of your furnace, J&R Mechanical can help you get the most out of your system and even extend its life span with comprehensive furnace inspections and maintenance.

Troubleshooting Your Heat System

Like all mechanical equipment, sometimes a simple, DIY fix is all it takes to fix the problem. Before giving us a call, we’re sharing some furnace troubleshooting tips to see if you can get your heat back up and running.

Your heat won’t come on:

  • Check your circuit breaker to see if it’s tripped. If it has, turn it back on. If it hasn’t you can try resetting it to flip it off, then back on, then make sure it stays in position.

  • Check the thermostat. You may need to check the batteries and open it and clean out any dust with a dry, clean paintbrush to make sure the sensors are working properly.

  • Consider the location of the thermostat. If it’s in a direct sunbeam or over top of a lamp, it may be that it’s warmer than the rest of your home.

Warm air isn’t coming out of the vents:

  • Change your air filter as dust and dirt can block air flow into the unit, and prevent it from functioning.

  • If applicable, check the outside unit to see if leaves and debris have collected around the unit, blocking air flow.

  • Check your vents to make sure they aren’t blocked

  • Clean the area around your furnace or interior heating unit.

If these quick fixes don’t have your heat working properly, it’s time to reach out to us for professional heating repair.
